Head coach Steve Masiello of the Manhattan men’s basketball team was ready to leave Manhattan and head to the University of South Florida to becoming the Bulls new head coach.
However, the deal was squashed after a background check showed a discrepancy. It was later announced that Masiello had lied on his resume saying he had received a degree from the University of Kentucky.
As a result, USF decided not to hire Masiello and he has officially been put on leave at Manhattan College. The biggest question stemming from this story is, will Masiello coach again?
Overall, this is was a very eye opening article and has a tremendous impact on Masiello’s future career. How will Masiello explain this occurrence to a future employer?
